Whooo weeee!!!  Hope you all got some this weekend!  Went to San Elijo on Saturday, nice and crowded, but a sweet ride.  Nothing tubular, kind of mushy actually, but fun.  Sunday wife was on call so we went to Tourmo.  Pretty fun, nice shape, generally glassy.  Nice to see some overhead at San Elijo and Tourmo again.

A bad day surfing is better than a good day working.

Fun fun fun, OB was classic today, the north side was big and walled, but the south side was big and mushy with long rides. Bratacus and I showed up with your fishes, along with a bud from the other forum, and where with just 2 other surfers while a hoard of shortboarders stayed on the north side. Caught my obligatory half dozen waves in an hour and off to work. Funny, had to shoot the pier three times cause I got around the whitewash only to end up right before the pier. Fun fun fun

Was at Del Mar til about 2.  Was pretty fun; typical slow-rolling 3-4ft mush you find at Del Mar.

By 1:30 though all the groms apparently skipped school or something, so within five minutes the place was absolutely crowded with kids who don't even have any manners.  At the same time though the waves started getting crappy and turning into unsurfable closeouts, so I figured that was a sign that I should leave.

Might take out the log tomorrow for the first time in a while and just live at Shores the whole day.

... that's crazy good!

I checked out Mission Beach (mostly closed out) Tourmo (pretty flat and packed) and ended up at Scripps today. 2-3' with and a very occasional 4', but those were nearly always closed out. Longish waits between sets. I had fun on my new fish.  The water felt warmer than on Saturday.

yah I got up for the DP with mathteacher at OB.   GOOD LORD THAT'S EARLY!  The surf was amazingly clean on the south side of the pier.  I almost never head over that side but I'm glad thats where we went.   The faces  were setting up super nice.  I kept expecting the wave to shut down, but it just held up and kept rolling!    Mathteacher was saying how he didn't want to be shooting the pier and 3 seconds later he's shooting the pier.  Once you got on that roller you didn't want to get off!  Really fun day and I'm glad I got up for it.  The kids were ready for school and set to go when I got home so I may just do another DP in the near future.

Man, I'm kicking myself for skipping out today.  Stopped by Shores this afternoon and while the place was super crowded (thank you Veterans Day!), the waves weren't bad at all.  A lot of 3ft rollers closer to Scripps that had pretty awesome form.

Driving back home I checked out Suckouts and man, that place was amazing too, with 4-5ft waves with good form.

It's a pay parking lot, or you can park alongside the beach further south.

DP at Seaside.  Was going to do blacks but overslept.  Rode the Addict black beauty, and caught nice head high punchy surf.  It paddles like my old Merrick but turns much sharper due to thinner rails.

Moderate offshore winds.  On one ride, the wave set up right in front of me.   I crouched,  dragged my hand and got barreled for a split second.  Game on folks...

I brought my thruster out for the first time in a year, and wow, after getting used to a longboard and a fish, I still can't wrap my mind around how loose and responsive a thruster feels.  My first ride I looked and felt like an absolute kook; I ended up getting wiped out hard after trying to attempt a bottom turn that I seriously overshot.

OB was big, scraping the bottom of the pier, a foot or two overhead. Poor form, mushy take off into big walls, but it made for super fun drops. Caught 4 big ones and a couple small ones then off to work I go.

Had the new (green) fish out, set it up with bigger back fins and I was suprised how well it help up, I might have to reconsider the quad as a big wave option.

let me know when you're hitting OB again, If the schedule permits then I'll meet you out there.   Gotta see that green machine in person, it looks really sweet in the pics you posted.

DP at Del Mar.  Rode a 6'3" quad in 3-4ft surf.  Nice head high bombs but not enough of them (~40 min intervals).  Surf was decent till about 7am, then the tide really started softening things up.  Only caught one quality wave, but made it worth the effort.  I'm really starting to like quads more and more.  They carry speed through turns.  It feels like riding a skateboard.

Still some fun surf out there. The beaches look like a better option this morning, with more power.
